Artist of the Week: future.exboyfriend 🎸

Meet future.exboyfriend, an indie pop band based out of Salt Lake City, Utah. Initially a solo project by Tyler Harris, the band has grown over the past few years to include members Isaac Paul, Ian Kirby, and Josh Arena. Similar to artists like Still Woozy, Tame Impala, and Gus Dapperton, future.exboyfriend’s music is upbeat with an alternative dance edge.

Growing up surrounded by Mormon culture, where premarital sex is generally considered taboo, Tyler felt inspired to write a song celebrating sexuality. He came up with the idea for “Good Girl” but felt embarrassed to release a song with such sexual overtones. Tyler kept the song in his back pocket for a while, but his producer encouraged him to finally share it with the world.

Recently, future.exboyfriend competed against over 250 songs in Top Song, a global open mic powered by Too Lost, and came in first place for “Good Girl.” The highly anticipated song will be released this Friday, August 9th.
