Artist of the Week: New West š»
New West is an alternative-pop collective based in Toronto, featuring Noel West, Kala White, Ben Key, and Vella. Initially known as The .wav, Noel brought everyone together after a year of separate studio sessions. The chemistry was instant, and in 2018, they rebranded as New West.
Their musicās vibe is both nostalgic and contemporary, drawing inspiration from timeless groups like The Rolling Stones and The Beatles, as well as innovative Toronto-based artists like Daniel Caesar and The Weeknd.
In recent years, New West has experienced explosive growth. They won the 2024 Juno Award for Breakthrough Group of the Year, performed their hit song āThose Eyesā on Jimmy Kimmel Live! and have amassed over 11.7 million monthly Spotify listeners.
New Westās EP drops this Friday. The six songs reflect the inspiration drawn from Torontoās seasons, blending the past and the present to create their unique sound.
